SlashID changes how users access websites with new Identity System

Toronto, Ontario, October 16, 2007 – SlashID Corporation launched its SlashID web identity management system which allows access to multiple web sites with a common username and password. The SlashID service ensures both the privacy and anonymity of consumers while allowing web site operators a trusted and reliable authentication system.
Today, most users must remember different usernames and passwords for each web site they visit. SlashID gives users a single username and password which provide access to different web sites. For each website, the user can choose a different identity, or 'profile.' Using cryptography, the profiles are encrypted to ensure information privacy and allow the user to control what personal information is shared with each web site. The system is designed so that even SlashID can not access the users personal information once it has been encrypted for a web site. All personal information is kept confidential between the SlashID user and the web sites that they trust with their information.
"SlashID returns the control over customer relationship to the business.”, said Zeev Lieber, founder and CTO of SlashID Corporation, “Once your customer's personal data is disclosed to your website, the website can be notified every time it changes - even if the customer doesn't log in to your website again. When the customer cancels the subscription you will also be notified - so you will have a chance to win that customer again."
The SlashID identity management system can handle eCommerce transactions that control access to more valuable content like financial records. Alternative identity systems like OpenID are generally limited to lower value and less security sensitive content like blog posts and social media content. The SlashID identity management system has the ability to handle both low and high security identity requirements.
The SlashID identity management system is a web application, written completely in Javascript and using the Google Web Toolkit (GWT). As a result, SlashID does not require any downloadable software, plug-ins or browser extensions and no information is ever stored on the user’s computer.
The SlashID service is currently in beta testing but is generally available to both users and web sites. Registrations are currently being accepted at www.slashid.com.
