Leopard Labs and Kaspersky Lab Join Forces for Mobile Security

Leopard Labs has developed content filtering and security solutions that enable mobile consumers, particularly mobile carriers, parents and business owners, to control the content being accessed from their mobile phones via the internet, SMS and MMS. The solution has particular relevance to issues of cyberbullying and parental control, and extends an enterprise's internal content access policies to employees' mobile devices.

The solutions are easy to deploy and manage and can be adapted in line with regulatory and social change. Mobile carriers will benefit from greater customer satisfaction and users will have confidence to subscribe to data services, safe in the knowledge that they have choice and flexibility in what content they can access.

Mobile carriers and their customers also benefit from advanced protection against increasing malware for mobile devices. Recently, Kaspersky Lab recorded the appearance of Trojans that illegally send SMS messages to dedicated premium numbers. Consequently, money is deducted from the user's account. Part of the money paid per SMS is given by the content provider who owns the number to the malicious user who has rented the number.

Kaspersky Anti-Virus Mobile was integrated by Leopard Labs to provide premier protection for smartphones and handhelds running under the Symbian and Windows Mobile platforms. The solution meets the highest standards for malware detection and uses fewer system resources compared to other solutions available on the market.

"We are pleased to partner with Leopard Labs to provide industry-leading protection from illegal charges and other newly-emerging mobile threats as well as to extend the availability of Kaspersky Lab technologies on the Australian Market. Leopard Labs is the world's first Internet filtering and security system that is integrated into a mobile phone and Kaspersky Lab is the first to develop removal tools for viruses that spread via mobile devices. This is a partnership of two technology leaders that delivers best-of-breed content filtering and security solutions for mobile carriers, corporations and individual users worldwide" commented Vitaly Bezrodnykh, Business Development Director at Kaspersky Lab.

"This partnership reflects our dedication to providing leading-edge and innovative mobile products as well as our commitment to a safe mobile experience to our consumer and corporate customers", says Neil Groll, CTO of Leopard Labs. "We researched and tested a range of antivirus software and found Kaspersky Anti-Virus Mobile to be the best-of-breed for integration with our Windows Mobile and Symbian-based products. By integrating a sophisticated antivirus solution into our product offering, we have expanded our content filtering and security solutions to deliver a unique proposition to the market."
