On behalf of the United States delegation, I wish to thank the Chief of the Conditions of Service Section of the Office of Human Resources Management Ms. Marianne Brzak-Metzler, for presenting the Secretary-General's report, requested by the 59th General Assembly in Resolution 59/282, on the Conditions of Services for the Judges of International Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia, the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda, and the members of the International Court of Justice. The report contains a useful comprehensive historical overview and recommendations for addressing issues of concern to the General Assembly. I would also like to thank the Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions, Mr. Rajat Saha for the Committee's detailed report and reasoned recommendations.
Furthermore, as a strong supporter of the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Tribunals and special courts established by the Security Council, my delegation would like to recognize and thank the judges of these courts for their service to the international community and to the United Nations. It is important that we periodically review the compensation and conditions of service for these important posts. I thank the Secretary-General and ACABQ for their reviews and recommendations.
