Powerful tool for teens now opening new doors

Coming to a high school near you— longer, yet more organized lines outside the counselors’ office. The much anticipated launch of Vivocenter.com has finally arrived.

Vivocenter.com is a first of its kind, profiling site, for all teens looking for opportunities after high school. Whether a student is looking to move on to college with a scholarship, play college athletics or head right into the work force, Vivocenter.com seems to have all bases covered.

"This is just what the doctor ordered," said Dan Whiten, a high school counselor in California.

Typically, a high school has between two and four counselors on staff to handle sometimes several thousand students, making for a very daunting task.

"Normally we have kids that come into our office that have no clue, no starting point on what they need to do. Now, by creating a profile, the students will now have options to bring us and we can go from there."

With the click of a mouse, students can easily navigate around the site to eventually build a sleek looking resume— complete with a layout of their report card for all four years.

Athletes can enter all of their game stats for their respective sport and update them as their season progresses.

The career profile offers every teen a chance to get credit for the jobs they work.

Strict security measures in place allow the teen’s password protected profile to be accessible to regsitered recruiters, only after the student grants permission.

And those decision makers, who pay nothing for the service, will be admissions counselors, college coaches and corporate recruiters, all looking to fill vacancies.

"We are most proud of the fact that Vivocenter is offering teens something they have seldom had— options," explains Vivocenter Director of Marketing Terrance Schontag.

"We are not just a site for the top two percent students and athletes. We offer a tool for all kids, even the one that is done with school after 12 years and wants to go into the workforce."

While other social websites like myspace and Facebook have taken off because of the entertainment value to teens, Vivocenter offers a value-added service for teens that might not seem cool, but will help in the long run.

"We get it that teens are all about having fun," Schontag said. "But at some point they need to get serious and start thinking about what they are going to do after school and how they are going to get it accomplished."

Vivocenter is open to all teens as long as they are at least 14 years of age and a minimum of a freshman in high school.

And if security is a concern for parents, Schontag says the site has that covered.

"First we literally call every recruiter’s place of employment to verify them when they sign up. Then there are several layers of security within the site to prevent any improper behavior with our kids."
