A California based company is growing by leaps and bounds by opening a remote computer support company over the Internet.
Pc Cleaner Pro, a firm located in Portola Valley, California., 30 miles outside of San Francisco, uses "desktop sharing" technology that allows technicians to view and interact with computer users at home or work.
"We believe we will lead the remote computer service industry.” said Shane Anderson, the company CEO who formed Pc Cleaner Pro.
Shane believes there are two reasons for his company's success. "People are more dependent on the computer. Everyone from kids to seniors is using the Internet these days," he said.
"It's also getting increasingly complex for computer users. Computer viruses and spyware are making it more difficult than ever costing consumers and companies millions of dollars every year," said Shane, who hears about computer problems firsthand.
"The first statement many people make is, 'I want to throw my computer down a long flight of stairs,' " he said.
Shane’s company has adopted the slogan, "It's Not Broken It’s Dirty" referring to a computers contamination, dust and viruses.
"According to statistical data from a major computer company, they stated less than 1% of computers would fail if they were continually maintained." He said.
"We are not just another computer repair company; we like to think of our company as a preventive maintenance firm, not a repair shop. He said. "
"We cover any problem other than a computer's hardware problems. That means (cleaning up) viruses and spyware, pc tune-ups, security checks, which right now is most of our business," said Shane.
PC Cleaner Pro charges $69.99 an hour, but most problems are handled in 15 minutes for a charge of $17.50, he said.
"We help people set up software or configure their e-mail. We also handle problems of recovering data as well as backing data up," he said.
If technicians decide problems require a new computer, we will go online with a customer and help them make a purchase online, said Shane, noting the company has no access to a customer's computer after a service call is discontinued.
Shane expects the company's growth to continue as more people learn of the service.
"We also provide On-Site services as well but we recommend using our remote support because it saves the consumer a substantial amount of money." He said.
