REFLEX SECURES NHS TRUST CAR PARKS

Following on from recent contract wins at Heatherwood and Wexham NHS Trust and several other health sector customers Reflex has completed a contract to upgrade car park management systems with the Royal Brompton Hospital in Chelsea. The Royal Brompton and Harefield NHS Trust is the largest centre for the treatment of heart and lung conditions in the UK and one of the largest in the world. Its two hospitals are international leaders in their field. The Brompton Hospital in Chelsea was reviewing access arrangements to its car parks and was seeking a partner to upgrade its car park systems to provide better security and monitoring. Reflex was invited to provide a technology solution in conjunction with its car park management partner.
Working closely with car park management company CP Plus and the hospital, Reflex designed an installed an integrated car park management system that controls access to the main hospital car park. Remote monitoring of a second, revenue generating car park by CP Plus was also facilitated, using Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR). In addition, a control and monitoring centre was installed within the hospital itself, allowing full video monitoring and access control from inside the hospital, by the site-based security team. As a Panasonic European Integrator partner, Reflex employed the use of this status and a full Panasonic solution was provided - using high resolution fully functional domes and static camera technologies - and full digital recording capability providing evidence quality imagery if required. The hospital now has an effective way of managing its car park space, as well as managing additional revenue generation from the second car park. Because of the full network enabling, images and data can also be retrieved remotely for audit purposes.
Gavin Povey of Royal Brompton Hospital, said: “Car parking space in and around London is at an absolute premium, and we need to be sure that only those authorised are able to access the main car park. A second car park has been added as a revenue generating initiative, and at that car park we need to monitor and record daily vehicle movements to ensure that our revenues were being maximised.
