Corsair launched a new rugged line of USB 2.0 flash drives. Called Flash Surviros and available in two capacities, 4 GB and 8 GB, the new drives are water-resistant to 200 Meters (650 Feet)/20 Atmospheres and shock proof.
The drives are encased in CNC (Computer Numerical Control) milled aluminum and additional protection is achieved through the use of rubber molded collar shielding.
“Corsair has built the Flash Survivor family specifically for customers with a ‘Bring It On!’ attitude – for someone who doesn’t want to worry if his/her equipment can stand up to the active lifestyle they lead,” said Jack Peterson, VP of Marketing at Corsair. “Storing your valuable information on a USB flash drive capable of weathering the storm of everyday life while ensuring your data is safe – that is what Flash Survivor is all about,” continued Peterson.
Corsair claims that the GT version of Flash Survivor is 5 times faster than other drives, with read/write performance up to 34MB/sec. Also the USB drives are delivered pre-loaded with security application that enables users to create a password-protected partition.
The recommended price of 8 GB version is $129.99 USD and $59.99 USD for the 4 GB drive.
