Network LAN Messaging with No Setup, No Server, No Administration
CEZEO Software has released LanTalk NET v. 3.1, an extremely simple instant messenger application for Windows. Unlike programs that have complicated setup procedures and require the network administrator to spend a lot of time tweaking the server, LanTalk NET requires no setup, no administration, and no server. The program performs all instant messenger functions by itself, with no need for a server. LanTalk NET automatically knows which users are available, and it allows them to be instantly connected to one another. By providing a simple means of communicating, LanTalk NET virtually eliminates the emailing of inter-office messages and files.
LanTalk NET lets you communicate with other LAN users, and can also work on a WAN, intranet, or on the Internet. By using static IP addresses, you can connect with any desktop in your company, anywhere in the world. Employees who are traveling can connect with LanTalk NET while they're at a hotel, or in a customer's office. The program uses standard TCP/IP communications, making it easy for everybody to stay connected.
With its emphasis on security, LanTalk NET can close its ports at the network firewall, and protect you from external attacks. Spam is eliminated because you control who has access to LanTalk NET. LanTalk NET has all of the power of traditional instant messenger and email systems, without the security problems.
LanTalk NET lets managers broadcast information to all of their employees. While many workers would need to send and receive messages, it's easy to give some employees read-only access to the program, allowing them to receive vital information, but restricting them from replying, or from creating new messages.
