Virginia Beach, VA November 2, 2006 Engedi Technologies, Inc and Netarus LLC completed a joint software development project under DHS sponsorship for improved SCADA Security. A Multi-Party Authorization technology from Engedi Technologies called Key2 Control was developed and applied as an add-on module to the SCADA control system from Netarus known as SCInterface for Sensors. The development marks a significant advancement to SCADA control systems enabling customers to now employ pro-active protection against the malicious or inexperienced insider.
Key2 Control (K2c)™ is software that enables sensitive and critical network, computer and control systems to enjoy proactive security against inappropriate acts by the inexperienced or malicious insider. Key2 Control™ is somewhat analogous to weapons systems that require two individuals to turn two different keys in order to take action. One person cannot do it alone. Key2 Control™ software enables use of a second key in the system, implementing multi-party authorization. A Key2™ enabled system would require a second (or third) authorizer before certain critical tasks or actions, as defined by security policy, could be performed. The K2c solution enables a network administrator to do his or her job efficiently while at the same time protecting the network against acts of a compromised or inexperienced insider. The Key2 Control solution enables rapid multi-party authorization while minimizing inconvenience and delay.
SCInterface is an open source middleware platform developed to manage, control and monitor distributed heterogeneous sensor networks such as SCADA and M2M networks. Functioning as the "glue" to tie together these sensor networks, SCInterface works with a multitude of sensor protocols to retrieve sensor data and distribute this information securely to a centralized interface. SCInterface enables sensors to be monitored, managed and controlled seamlessly without requiring a new standard to be adopted or implemented at the sensor level.
“We are delighted to have our Key2 Control software available as an add-on module to the Netarus SCInterface platform. The Netarus team is doing leading edge development work in the SCADA and Sensor control marketplace. We believe customers will more quickly realize the benefits of multi-party authorization technology though our work with Netarus to make Key2 Control technology available to the SCADA system customer”, said Mr. Craig Palmore, Director, Business Development for Engedi Technologies.
