Kaspersky Lab announces the release of Kaspersky® Anti-Virus 5.5 for Proxy Server
[author:Karl Public time:Oct 12, 2006]

Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content management solutions, announces a new addition to the company’s product line. Kaspersky® Anti-Virus 5.5 for Proxy Server provides antivirus scanning for Internet traffic passing through the proxy server. The solution protects users from malicious programs when they surf the Internet, download files or communicate via instant messaging services. Importantly, the product offers support for the Squid proxy server.

Kaspersky® Anti-Virus 5.5 is designed to provide real-time protection for all incoming HTTP and FTP traffic. The product gives system administrators the option of disabling the scanning of traffic from trusted servers and allows them to configure flexible scanning rules for individual user groups. When infected objects are detected, users receive notifications in HTML format, which can be customized by the system administrator.

For ease of administration, settings for Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.5 for Proxy Server can be configured using a configuration file or the web interface for the Webmin program. Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.5 for Proxy Server creates statistics showing the results of antivirus scanning and processing of traffic, as well as general statistics on the program’s performance.

Antivirus databases can be updated automatically according to a schedule set by the system administrator or on demand. Updates can be downloaded from Kaspersky Lab servers on the Internet or from local update servers on the network. The administrator has the choice of using a standard or extended set of antivirus databases.
