Trend Micro Announces 2007 Internet Security Suite

Trend Micro Inc. has announced the 2007 version of its Internet Security suite, which will incorporate Trend Micro's PC-cillin engine and anti-malware protection along with a host of new features addressing rootkits, spyware, phishing, spam, hackers, viruses, Wi-Fi attacks, smartphone threats and identity-theft threats.

In addition, the Trend Micro Internet Security subscription will include TrendSecure, the company's new online security services. TrendSecure will bring added security for consumers that not only connect while at home, but often connect while they are on the go. TrendSecure is currently available in English and Japanese.

"We are excited to offer this hybrid software and Web-based service release because increasingly mobile consumers and computer-connected families want to email, shop, share pictures, bank, browse, instant message with confidence, safe from malicious attacks and time-consuming interruptions," said Lane Bess, global general manager, consumer products and services, Trend Micro.

"Trend Micro Internet Security comprehensively safeguards your laptop and other computers, your files, your transactions, and your identity. The all new TrendSecure online suite of additional security services provides information and tools that extend digital security beyond your home-connected computer," added Bess.

The new Trend Micro Internet Security version includes additions and enhancements to secure consumer digital files and data, and protect against stolen personal identity due not just to cyber-theft, but also from the theft or loss of computer notebooks. It provides free extended customer care, and helps ensure safe connections in hotel, airport, coffee-shop computer kiosks and Wi-Fi-enabled municipalities. Advanced home network protection such as greater Web content filtering, personal firewall capabilities and centralized management provides parents with more assurance that their home computing environment's security is up-to-date and their families are safe when online.

Trend Micro's new suite is designed to identify, block and automatically remove known viruses, Trojans and spyware; filter annoying spam; warn about unauthorized wireless access to your network; block objectionable content; identify fraudulent phishing scams; and provide users with real-time defense against online and offline identity and data theft.

The new features of Trend Micro's Internet Security include an entirely new integrated anti-spyware/anti-virus engine and library that blocks and removes more spyware, adware and grayware than before. The engine also takes full advantage of technology obtained through last year's acquisition of anti-spyware company InterMute, innovations such as Venus Spy Trap behavioral monitoring and an innovative Rootkit Common Module that specifically blocks rootkits, a new type of deep-hiding invader.

The new TrendSecure component will offer Remote File Lock, allowing users to get on the Internet and remotely lock down their private/financial files in the event their laptop is lost or stolen. Transaction Guard uses a secret keyboard to protect users' online transactions conducted at Internet cafes or public Wi-Fi hotspots where keyloggers can potentially steal passwords and other private information. Available for download, Trend Micro Mobile Security protects devices from viruses and spam directed at smartphones.

North American pricing provides one household license for one year at $49.95. The annual license for Trend Micro Internet Security provides protection for up to three PCs along with free support and includes the TrendSecure online services. In order to assure continuous protection for consumers, new services and features released during the subscription period are provided for free. Once the subscription expires, a 12-month subscription renewal costs $49.95.
