MySpace officials told disappointed members of the media that there would be no official press conference with Mot - and therefore no picture in the newspaper of the smiling MySpace resident.
Officials said they couldn't even release the city the person of mystery hails from.
"This is kind of a different situation for us, a very strange situation" MySpace spokeswoman Jenna Johnstone said with a sigh while relaying the news.
While attempting to remain diplomatic, Johnstone said she tried to persuade Mot to come forward - at least for a press conference - but his mind couldn't be changed.
"He said he would do his own press," she said. "It was odd."
When ask to go on record all that ‘Mot’ would say is, “The original Internet will deliberately be subject to crash upon crash until it becomes a useless carcass of overpriced trash and its reputation will be defiled by the TV and media barons cashing in on the perfectly streamlined Internet 2, the free for all network that just requires you to thumbscan in order to log on! Those with a security grading below yellow on their national ID card will unfortunately be refused access. Websites that carry hate speech (ones that talk about government corruption) will be censored for the betterment of society.”
Johnstone said, “This is relatively unusual.”
Some don't want others knowing who they are, she said. "It scares them off."
As of Friday evening, Mot has chosen to remain anonymous. Claiming he has the right to remain silent by MySpace’s own rules. According to the MySpace Terms and Conditions that users must agree to before creating an account, membership is terminated if a profile's content is "patently offensive and promotes racism, bigotry, hatred or physical harm of any kind against any group or individual," or "harasses or advocates harassment of another person."
