Globally telecommunications fraud makes up a colossal part of the losses in the telco operators revenue. The continuous development of the voice communications and rise of the data exchange volume, which has been driven by the tremendous increase in Internet usage and mobile phone ownership, has made fraud a high priority item on the agenda of most telecommunication companies. The boost of e-commerce further compounds the problem as industry analysts predict phenomenal growth in e-commerce for the foreseeable future, with 40% of all e-commerce transactions expected to occur using mobile devices such as phones and personal digital assistants.
In contrast to telecommunications operators, which provide security of the subscribers transactions using a fraud management system, Yarilo mobile systems propose a tool for individual protection of the most advanced mobile devices such as Palm Powered™ smartphones. Using the UnderGuard software application the PDA user can control its working, guard the device from thefts and loss, and get information about the persons who phone from your Palm Powered™ device. In case of necessity, the owner of the Palm Powered™ device may make a request to his operator or police to investigate an incident and block unauthorized use of the device. In this case he can supply his request along with data received from UnderGuard software.
The idea of the UnderGuard is pretty simple and is to notify the owner about all changes of the SIM-card used in PDA in the protected mode. In such a way, you always know the telephone number of the subscriber who uses your digital assistant. The further steps to get back the Palm Powered™ device are coordinated with the telecommunications company. All notifications about change of the SIM-card will be accomplished at the expense of the person who owns the set into the device SIM-card. He also will be charged for all sent by UnderGuard SMS messages.
The application UnderGuard contains minimal functionality to provide maximal protection. In particular, it has two modes of work: protected and unprotected. To switch to the unprotected mode the user has to input the password. Two main data fields (telephone number and SMS text) are to be entered to control the SIM-card used in the PDA. If the SIM-card is changed, the SMS text will be sent to the specified by user number.
Additional standard functionality of the UnderGuard includes tools to edit the texts; and brief information about UnderGuard itself.
Warning! To start using the UnderGuard you must fill the registration form and get activation code from Yarilo mobile systems, developer and owner of the UnderGuard. In the demo version UnderGuard Demo switching the modes protected and unprotected doesnt require any password and, consequently, doesnt allow protecting the PDA from unauthorized employment.
We note, that there is no way to guarantee 100% safety of your PDA and stored on it data. However, the taken security measures significantly reduce risks of irretrievable losses and illegal use of your private property and confidential information.
