Security Solutions at Service Stations Provided by Visimetrics and SDA Protec

Visimetrics (UK) Ltd will soon have it’s leading Digital Evidence Recordertm systems deployed in petrol service stations throughout Europe as part of SDA Protec’s three year contract with Europe’s largest petrochemical company. As this petrol producer’s preferred CCTV supplier, SDA Protec selected the Visimetrics DVR solution for its storage capacity capabilities, system flexibility and image quality. Ease of use was an additional key factor in the users requirements. The system also proved to be the most cost effective method of providing reliable recordings for evidential use.

The petrochemical company involved has more than 9,000 sites, which require the installation of CCTV at new service stations or the re-fitting existing sites. To date, eight trial sites in the UK and four in Ireland have been completed, with work also commencing in a further 14 European countries.

Each service station has a standard specification for cameras, monitors and digital video recording which is then adjusted according to what is required for local conditions and local legislation. For example, stations outside of the UK may have additional cameras where ATMs are installed.

A critical requirement was the ability to integrate with the existing fuel pump/EPOS tills, allowing transaction data to be recorded and stored alongside associated video data. This enables the user to search for important footage based on either time/date or transaction type or indeed a combination of the two.
