NATIONJOB RANKED AMONG THE BEST IN PROTECTING USER PRIVACY
[author:NationJob, Inc Public time:Nov 19, 2003]

Des Moines, IA (November 19, 2003) - NationJob.com, one of the Internet's most-visited employment web sites, was named among the top three companies best at protecting private information in a recent study by the World Privacy Forum.  The World Privacy Forum is a California based nonprofit organization that studies technology's effect on privacy.  NationJob Network, founded in 1988, is a premier nationwide Internet recruiting site.

The World Privacy Forum looked at data-sharing policies of 53 job-search web sites and more than 200 resume-writing services.  "It (NationJob) is notably privacy-friendly" The World Privacy Forum.  NationJob is among the top three companies for a number of reasons.  First, there is "no registration required prior to looking at job ads".  Second, NationJob has "no third party cookies of any type".  Cookies allow web sites to track and maintain user information.  No third party cookies means NationJob will not put cookies belonging to another company on your computer when you visit the site.  Finally, The World Privacy Forum tested NationJob's resume site, which "resulted in 0 spam from third parties".

Consistent with their philosophy towards user privacy, NationJob created Personal Job Scout, a pioneering "push" technology in 1995.  P.J. Scout is a free automated Internet service that sends job seekers weekly e-mails with a list of positions that fit their profile.  NationJob currently has over 950,000 active P.J. Scout Subscribers.

As a result of The World Privacy Forum's findings, author and Internet recruiting expert Pam Dixon had the following tips for posting resumes on the Web to secure personal information:

· Read the privacy policy to understand with whom the data might be shared.

· Make sure you can delete the resume after is has been posted.

· Post your resume sparingly, an don sites that allow you to masks your contact information.

· List an e-mail address you can cancel if spam becomes a problem.

· Never give out back account numbers or credit card numbers.

· Give out your social security number sparingly and only after a job interview.

· Set your bowers to nullify third-party cookies, will allow advertising companies to track your moves.
