ScamAlarm protects you from fraudulent websites and prevents you from entering personal information at unsafe sites. Similar to anti-virus software, ScamAlarm employs both a block list and heuristics to protect you from harm. This multi-prong approach enables ScamAlarm to effectively protect you from both known phishing sites, and sites not previously encountered.
ScamAlarm is installed on your desktop and monitors all browser (currently supports Internet Explorer and NetCaptor browsers) navigations and site content. If you attempt to navigate to a site on the ScamAlarm block list (i.e., reported fraud sites), you will receive a warning before the browser displays the requested website. If you navigate to a website that fails the ScamAlarm security and/or heuristic checks, ScamAlarm warns you of potential harm.

Zero-hour protection - The average life of a phishing/spoof site is a few hours to a few days, which is why a block-list-only approach to fraud protection is limited. ScamAlarm employs a combination of contextual analyses and site heuristics to protect you from new forms of fraud.

Safer browsing - At a time when the threat of online fraud continues to grow and remains a moving target, ScamAlarm provides the only anti-fraud solution that can effectively protect you from unsafe websites.
Always up-to-date - ScamAlarm periodically checks for new updates to the block list and rule definitions and automatically installs the definitions to protect you from the latest threats.
Not another toolbar - Unlike current toolbar solutions that require you to constantly monitor site information (i.e., geo-location) displayed in the toolbar to determine if a site is safe, ScamAlarm resides in the task tray and only warns when necessary.
"Always on" protection - ScamAlarm monitors all browser requests to ensure the highest level of fraud protection in Internet Explorer and NetCaptor.
Neighborhood watch - ScamAlarm makes it easy for you to report suspicious sites. Each ScamAlarm warning message includes a "report site" option that enables you to report sites to the TrustBureau. Or, you can use the right-click feature that allows you to report suspicious sites to the TrustBureau. |
